If you are looking for online French classes for kids, French Academy DC MD VA offers interactive small-group lessons designed specifically for young learners. Our online French classes allow children to learn the language through games, conversation, songs, and engaging activities, while interacting live with a native French-speaking teacher.

Unlike many online programs, our classes are live and interactive, allowing children to actively participate and practice speaking French with their teacher and classmates.

Our kids’ online French classes are intentionally kept small to encourage participation and interaction.
While classes can have up to 7 students, many groups have 3 to 5 children, allowing teachers to provide personalized attention and ensure each child participates actively.

- Young Children 3.5 to 7 years old
- Children 7.5 to 12 years old beginner to elementary
- Children 6 to 12 years old advanced to bilingual
- Summer Camps for all levels

* Our small kids classes are playful immersion classes with activities similar to what children would do in a French maternelle.

Level 1: A dynamic and interactive approach for complete beginners to strong beginners (0 to 2 years of French)
Level 2: for elementary children (3 to 4 years of French)

We offer regular workshops amd classes for advanced and bilingual children.

We focus not only on a typical curriculum for French speakers, but also on vocabulary acquisition and reading, as well as reinforcing conversation. Of course we tackle spelling and grammar, but in a way that is adapted to the needs of bilingual children, who often default to English. We reinforce areas of difficulties (homonyms, silent letters, e versus i, the accentuation etc...)

We form group according to the age and level of the child. Those groups are covering generally 2 years of French.

Children can start learning French online from an early age depending on the program. Our classes are designed to keep young learners engaged through interactive activities.

Are the online French classes live?
Yes. All of our online French classes are live and interactive, allowing children to participate, ask questions, and speak with their teacher and classmates.

How large are the online kids’ groups?
Most groups are intentionally small to encourage participation. While the maximum is 10 students, many groups have only 3–5 children.

Do you also offer in-person French classes for kids?
Yes. We offer French classes for children in Washington DC and Alexandria VA.

Do you offer French summer camps for kids?
Yes. We offer French immersion summer camps for children ages 5–12 in the DC area as well as online options.
